BISKET JATRA and CHARIOT PROCESSION OF BISKET JATRA

 Another important aspect Bisket Jatra is the grand riot procession.  It is believed the Bisket Jatra was highly popular in the ancient time, so much so that deity Bhairav from Kashi, India, himself tried attending the festival disguised as a human. He was, however, recognized by a Tantric. Under the king's command, the tantric and soldiers pursued Bhairav, who tried escaping by sinking on the ground. The tantric then beheaded Bhairav only to regret later. As an act of contrition the tantric built the Bhairav temple at Bhaktapur Durbar Square.
