GHALEGAUN

Considered a model for village tourism destination in the South Asia, Ghalegaun is situated at an altitude of 2100 meters in Lamjung district. The Gurung settlement at the foot of the Himalaya was the seat of Ghale rulers of 16th century. It is the place to experience Gurung and Ghale culture, arts and tradition. Ghalegaun offers a hospitable home stay facility to the visitors. The village is home to 104 families and 32 of them provide home stay service. People visiting Ghalegaun are welcomed in a traditional style by offering them garlands and performance of traditional Gurung dance. They serve traditional meals out of local produce. Ghalegaun is rich in natural beauty, sunrise, view of snow capped mountains and Gurung tradition. The closer inspection of Lamjung, Machhapuchhre (Fish tail), Annapurna, Himchuli and Buddha Himal is also possible from this place. From Besisahar, one can reach Ghalegaun by walking for 5-6 hours. A jeep service is also in operation from Besisahar that takes 2-3 hours to reach the village.
