NAGARKOT

Nagarkot is considered the most popular hill station around Kathmandu valley to enjoy the magnificent sunrise and sunset with spectacular Himalayan vista. Located approximately 7000 ft (2000 m) above the sea level, Nagarkot is 28 km from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Nagarkot offers breathtaking view of the majestic Himalayas, rolling hills, valley and lush pine forests around its surrounding. Eight out of 13 mountain ranges in the country could be viewed from Nagarkot. On a clear day, one could see splendid sight of Annapurna, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Rolwaling, Mahalangur (Everest Range) and Numbur mountain ranges. For visitors wishing to return to Kathmandu while enjoying the backdrop of Himalayas, there is a scenic hiking trail that leads to Sankhu. One could also hike to Changu Narayan Temple, Chisapani, Dhulikhel and Melamchi from Nagarkot. Strategically located, Nagarkot was an ancient fort of Kathmandu Valley for monitoring external activities of other kingdoms.
