What are electromagnetic waves?
The heat produced by the Sun travels from the Sun to the Earth via waves known as electromagnetic waves. These waves can vary greatly in their wavelength. Electromagnetic waves possess both electric and
magnetic properties. Because the electromagnetic waves traveling to the Earth from the Sun come in a variety of lengths, scientists consider them to be a spectrurn. Thus, we call all these waves together the 'electronagnetic spectrum'. I lectromagnetic waves are divided into many categories.
Electromagnetic Spectrum
The shortest waves are gamma rays, x-rays and ultraviolet waves. The medium sized waves are called visible light waves. Radio waves, micro waves and infrared waves are the longest waves.
