BALAJU BAISDHARA

Balaju Baisdhara is located around 4 km north from Thamel, Kathmandu, on the foothill of Raniban forest (Queen's forest). It is a beautiful park named after the 22 (Bais in Nepali) water taps (Dhara) inside. The park also has a submerged idol of reclining lord Vishnu that was built by the King Pratap Malla in the 17th century. It was established as a tribute to the famous Budhanilkantha Narayan idol. Nearby are the temples of Balanilkantha, Shitala Mai and Harati Mata. There is also a public swimming pool within the park premises.
