SUBARNESWOR MAHADEV

The temple of Subarneswor Mahadev is located around 2 km south from Barahi Chowk of Suryabinayak. It is believed this temple was erected during the Satyayug. During the ancient time, the temple priest touched his copper plate on the lingam while performing his prayers. To the surprise of the priest, the copper plate turned into a gold plate. From that day onwards, this temple was named Subarneswor Mahadev, subarna meaning gold in Nepali. The temple is a one-storied structure resembling a pumpkin. A five feet tall Shiva lingam is enshrined in this temple.
