LUMBINI

The Lumbini garden located in the Rupandehi district of Lumbini Zone is considered a highly sacred site for Buddhists worldwide. It is the birthplace of lord Buddha. Born as son to the Shakya Queen, Mayadevi, inside a beautiful Lumbini garden in 563 BC, ci Buddha, whose birth name was Siddhartha, went on to become the global symbol peace and compassion. He was born in Lumbini thus making the place a sacred image site for millions of Buddhists throughout the world. Most of the tourists *ring in Nepal visit Lumbini that is characterized by its peaceful environment. There e numerous temples and monasteries constructed by various countries at Lumbini. e place is suitable for understanding the historic background of Buddhism as well the life history of Lord Buddha. The temple dedicated to Mayadevi is the main rs.f Lumbini. Located beside the temple are the holy Pushkirini Lake and the 37 erected by emperor Ashok of Magadh, India, to mark the birthplace of Lord Buddha.

 The Mayadeyi Temple, the Birth Marker Stone, the Ashok Pillar, the Idol of Mayadevi, e holy Pushkirini Lake, the Eternal Peace Flame and the numerous huge monasteries nstructed by different countries are the major attractions of Lumbini. Lumbini was tied in the UNESCO'S World Heritage Sites in 1997 AD. Lumbini is located 22 km st from Bhairahawa's Siddharthanagar, 300 km from Kathmandu and 197 km from Pokhara.
