THE GOLDEN ERA OF ART

 In the history of Nepal, the period between 937 B.S. and 1825 B.S. is known as Medieval period. It was the time before King Prithivi Narayan Shah started his unification campaign, the period when the Malla kings ruled the Kathmandu valley. The Malla kings who ruled the three cities of Kathmandu. Lalitpur and Bhaktapur at that time were engaged in a competition of sort to make their kingdom the most beautiful of all. Various temples, palaces, plazas and monuments were built in all three cities during this period. It was the golden era of art and architecture.
