Located at the highest point of Kirtipur within 5 minutes stroll from Baghbhairav Temple is the temple of Umamaheshwor. Lord Shiva and his wife goddess Parbati are worshipped in this temple. The idols of different Hindu gods and goddesses are also installed around the temple. The main attraction of the temple for the foreigners is the beautifully carved erotic images of Kamasutra on the temple struts. As the temple of Umamaheshwor is located at the highest point of Kirtipur hill, one can enjoy the panoramic view of the Kathmandu valley. The temple was a part of the kingdom ruled by Kirtipur kings until the troops of King Prithivi Narayan Shah took over after vanquishing the last s ruler of Kirtipur King Gyan Praja Malla on their third attempt.
