TRILOKYA MOHAN NARAYAN TEMPLE

To the right of the Kumari House is a three-storied temple of Trilokya Mohan Narayan. Built in 1737 BS by King Parthibendra Malla in memory of King Nripendra MaIla, this temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Every year, during the festival of Indra Jatra, a dance showcasing ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu is performed here. To the western side of this temple is a huge stone statue of kneeling Garuda, the faithful mount of Lord Vishnu. Its hands folded in praying position depicts Garuda paying its homage to Lord Vishnu. It was built by Queen Siddhi Laxmi Malla, widow of King Parthibendra Malla, in 1746 B.S.
