In Lalitpur, there are five Ashoka stupa built in 250 B.0 by Indian emperor Ashoka, who was a devout Buddhist. Yamp i Thur Ashoka stupa is one of the two cement-build stupa the other three stupa located in Lagankhel, Pulchowk and Gwarko are fashioned out of mud.
