TALEJU CHOWK

When we enter the Golden Gate and arrive at the first door, we can notice two decorative bars to the left and the right with two huge drums behind. During the Middle Ages, these drums were beaten to alert the townsfolk about approaching enemy. Within a short distance to the left is a courtyard called Taleju Chowk. This courtyard also known as Sneha Chowk is prohibited for non Hindus. Inside this courtyard is a temple of Taleju Bhawani and Kumari door. The courtyard houses an impressive collection of wood carved struts and doors, one of which leads to the temple of Taleju Bhawani. There is another door that serves as an entrance to the residence of Kumari.
